Womble-Abell-Norman family papers, 1919-1931.

This collection pertains to a family that resided in the Winnsboro/Rayville area in northeast Louisiana. It consists primarily of correspondence between Evelyn Abell Norman (b. 1902), her brother, Edward C. Abell, III, and their mother, Annie Mamie Womble Abell (1880-1973). Evelyn's correspondence from 1919 to 1921 discusses her life while attending Brenau College, with a few letters dated 1923 and 1927 that relate to her married life and subsequent move to Missouri. Edward's correspondence (1919-1925) relates his experience at LSU and his search for employment thereafter. The collection also contains correspondence with other relatives and friends, two photographs, a camp training certificate, a transcript of Evelyn's grades from Brenau, postcards, invitations to social gatherings, pay stubs/receipts, and clippings of accidents in the Rayville area.

Annie Mamie Womble Abell (1880-1973) was a teacher in northeast Louisiana and the mother of Evelyn Abell Norman (b. 1902) and Edward Charles Abell, III, also known as "Bub." Evelyn grew up in northeast Louisiana's Winnsboro/Rayville area and attended a private college for women called Brenau University in Gainesville, Ga., from 1919 to 1922.
